Let’s Learn Together: Women’s History Month

Blog

Each month Fatima Johnson, Brightlane’s Community Engagement & Education Strategist, will be sharing some educational information and resources as we continue to learn together. This month she is helping us explore Women’s History Month.

This month, as we honor the trailblazers who shaped history, we also pay homage to the women who, past and present, work tirelessly for our most vulnerable neighbors. Whether supporting children or advocating for families experiencing homelessness, these women are the backbone of our community.

In Central Indiana, women represent over 70% of the nonprofit and human services workforce. Beyond the professional sphere, 36% of women volunteer their time to uplift those around them. These leaders do more than provide services; they ensure the voiceless are heard, and the invisible are seen. By strategizing, organizing, and advocating, they secure the essential resources our families need to thrive.

I encourage you to explore the resources below to learn more about the women leading the way and making a lasting impact on our community, as well as those who have left a legacy that still impacts our community today.
