Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is the celebration of Mexico’s victory over France during the Battle of Puebla that occurred on May 5, 1862. Cinco de Mayo is also known as the Battle of Puebla Day and, in the United States, is primarily a day to celebrate Mexican-American heritage and culture.
