Let’s Learn Together: Black History Month

Why do we celebrate Black History Month and how can I show my support?

Black History Month is an annual celebration that recognizes the contributions and roles of Black people in U.S. History and worldwide. We invite you to take some time to learn the history behind the month, the importance of acknowledging Black Americans’ contributions and accomplishments, and ways to celebrate and support Black Americans, not just during Black History Month, but all year long. Below are some resources to help you celebrate this month and all year.

  • Read books by Black authors that tell Black stories
  • Watch movies and shows with Black lead characters and about the Black experience
  • Support Black-owned businesses
  • Attend events about, by, and supporting Black people
